GVSU Boxing Club
We are a club that wishes to help build confidence in people through the martial art of boxing. We work to create a safe environment that anyone can feel comfortable being apart of. The reason we strive for this is to welcome new people who may be nervous about the idea of boxing. As we grow our immediate goal is to raise money for our club so that we can continue to improve and grow as a community and have the adequate equipment and coaches to train anyone who wishes to learn this art.
CHAARG is an organization centered around women´s health and fitness. It includes an uplifting community of women across the country and empowers everyone involved to achieve whatever goal they have set for themselves. The GVSU chapter is participating in the Grand Finish 5k to raise money for the Women´s Resource Center in Grand Rapids. This will aid and empower women in need of financial assistance by ¨improving workplace and economic opportunities for women in [job] transition by supporting their career and life goals.¨ The WRC provide a free business center for these women, monthly computer classes to help them build skills, various skill workshops (including resumé writing, personal financial management, interviewing, etc), as well as professional clothing to help women attain jobs.
The GVSU Dodgeball Club is one of the oldest teams apart of the National Collegiate Dodgeball Association (NCDA). Since its inception in 2005, the GV Dodgeball team has been one of the most successful teams in the nation holding 8 National Championship wins. The team is currently on a four-year National Championship win streak, ranked number one in the nation, and is hoping to claim a fifth-year National Championship win with Nationals coming up in April. The GV Dodgeball team is proud to be a part of the Laker Tradition and is always looking for ways to give back to the community. The Grand Valley Dodgeball Team wants to thank the many supporters and fans for the countless help and contributions throughout the years and wishes to convey sincere gratuity, for we would not exist without you. Thank you!
The National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH)
The National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) is an organization whose main purpose is to recognize those who have somehow improved on-campus living. The group typically does programming based on their four pillars: scholarship, service, leadership, and recognition. Members are expected to attend and participate in meetings, as well as complete at least two hours of community service- both of which are monthly obligations. Your contribution would go to support organizational initiatives related to improving on-campus living for students.
GVSU Ski and Snowboard Club
We are a team of people who love to shred in the snow! Our team competes every winter for 5 weekends- both alpine/downhill and snowboard races. Our home mountain is Crystal mountain, and our regional competition is at Marquette mountain in the U.P! This year specifically our snowboarders placed 2nd and 1st overall in our divisional competition. Our goal is to send a team to nationals this year! But due to the high costs, we usually fall short from this goal! Please help us represent Grand Valley Ski and Board at a national level by supporting us!
Universities Allied for Essential Medicines (UAEM)
Universities Allied for Essential Medicines (UAEM) is an international non-profit dedicated to promoting equality in healthcare. The chapter at GVSU is excited to be working with Campus Recreation in order to raise money for International Sustainability, Health, Education and Water (ISHEW), a NGO registered in Ghana, West Africa and the United States. Several members of our organization worked first hand with ISHEW and witnessed the life-changing projects that have been provided to the underserved. When you select “UAEM for ISHEW” under organization, all proceeds will be donated to future projects such as installing water wells for entire communities, donating materials necessary for educational success, and promoting health and sanitation where few accessible clinics exist.
Men's Volleyball Club
The Laker Men’s Volleyball program is one of the oldest club sports programs on campus, entering its third decade of providing high-level competitive volleyball, leadership, and service opportunities for young men in West Michigan. Our top team competes regionally as a Division I program as a member of the Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA), a league spanning eight states, 40 colleges and universities, and four conferences. The Lakers have reached the Greater Midwest Men’s Volleyball Conference (GMMVC) championship eight times since joining the league in 2003, winning the title four times, and are the current defending champions. Since the state of Michigan does not offer boy’s volleyball in high school, athletes on campus join our program intending to learn a brand new sport from the ground up, work hard to develop skills in one of the most technically demanding sports, and reach a high level of execution to be competitive — a very difficult task that teaches important life lessons as they prepare to impact the world. The Laker Men’s Volleyball program has earned respect around the region and nation as a strong, consistent squad (the only NCAA Division II institution to be consistently nationally ranked each year) with alumni reaching the highest echelons of the sport, from All-America honorees to Olympic referees in Rio to professional indoor and beach players. The Lakers hope to defend their GMMVC championship this season by going back-to-back for the second time in program history. Thank you for your continued support!
