The Student Employment Office (SEO) works with all University departments and the community to create part-time and summer employment opportunities for students. As part of the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, we administer the Federal Work Study Program university-wide. The purpose of the Student Employment Office is to aid students in obtaining employment that will help finance their education and develop work skills for their future career choice.
The SEO is a resource for job-seeking students and hosts an online jobs database called LakerJobs.
The best way for prospective employers to reach Grand Valley students is through LakerJobs where you can post and manage your job posting, customize a job application, and track student applicants.
We look forward to working with you!
Minimum Wage Increased
The wage rate schedule beginning for the 2017-2018 academic year is now available. The State of Michigan passed a bill which will increase the minimum wage until 2018. Starting Fall 2017 the minimum wage for student employees will be $9.25. To find the new rate for your student employees use the same classification and step on the new chart.
- There are over 3,500 student employees working on Grand Valley's campus.
- Studies conducted by the National Association of Student Employment Administrators show that "students who work, do as well or better academically as students who do not work."
- LakerJobs is updated daily with new job postings.
- The Student Employment Office puts on annual events such as the Summer Job Fair and Student Employee Appreciation Days.
